Easter Craft Night

Hello friends. Hope you are all well.

As you know, Easter is right around the corner. So we have been doing Easter themed activities around here. Last night we had a big crafting night. We put together some photos of what we were doing and would like to share them with you.

1. Origami Easter Bunny Book Mark

This is something I found on Pinterest, but it was a bat bookmark for Halloween. I thought it would be fun to make an Easter bunny version. I've included step by step instructions, in case you want to make one too.

Step 1 fold a square piece of paper into a triangle, corner to corner
Step 2 fold that triangle in half, making a smaller triangle.

Step 3 unfold the second triangle and lay flat. Pull up one layer at the point, line it up with the center line and fold.

Step 4 fold in one side and then the other, towards the center fold.

Step 5 unfold what you just did, and fold the side point of the triangle to the center point of the triangle. Repeat on other side.

Step 6 fold the points under the flap on both sides.

Step 7 Add some bunny ears and a cute little face

 And you're done :)

2. Woven Paper Mini Baskets

Miss Princess wanted to make something simple and cute for her friends, since school holidays are coming up and she won't see them as often for the next two weeks. Two weeks is a really long time when you are 6 years old. So we decided to make these little paper woven baskets for her 3 school besties.

Start with some colored paper. We used her school colors, to show some school spirit.
Cut them into strips. Lay two strips down in a cross formation. Be sure to use some glue stick to make them stay together.

Weave in two more on each side of the original strips, making sure to alternate,
under, over, under, over and gluing along the way.
When you have 6, fold up the sides to form an almost cube.

For this next part, We had to stick two of our strips of paper together to make them a little longer.
Weave the long strips into the sides, making a fold at each corner and remember to glue.
Do this with two long strips. When finished, fold the left over top pieces inward and glue them down.

Add a little handle using one of your smaller strips of paper.
You can use the extra strips to make paper Easter grass. Throw it in the basket with a bag of lollies and a chocolate egg. We added a little note on the side as well.

3. Paper Mache Easter Basket

I thought I'd experiment a little bit here, just to see what would happen. I have a nice little Easter basket for Miss A, but as usual... I've gone a little overboard buying little toys and goodies and there was no room in the basket for all of this stuff, plus her plastic eggs. Not to mention the big box that happens to be a My Little Pony playset she has had her eye on for awhile.
I love paper mache.
And so, I thought, might as well see if I can make a simple little tote basket for her little toys. Just an easy simple one.

I found a big bowl in the kitchen and I wrapped it in foil.
I used a mixture of half pva glue and half water.
I dipped paper strips in the glue mixture and layered them all over the bowl.

After it dried I did it a second time.
Once the second layer was dry I covered the whole outside with a layer of glue, no water mixed in this time.

Once dry, I was able to get the bowl out and pull the foil off of the paper.
I painted it with pink and yellow lines, and added a laminated handle.

To finish up, I threw in some of our paper Easter grass.

And I stacked the fun stuff on top.

It isn't the greatest thing I've seen, and it isn't my best work...
But it is charming enough and will do the job that I need it to.
And it's not too bad for a quick experiment when I had absolutely zero time to do anything creative this busy, busy week.

We've got another Easter project in the making that we will share about on Friday.

We're very excited about school holidays. Tomorrow will be the last day of school, then it's two weeks of hopefully having fun and relaxing. What do you like to do on holiday breaks?

Did you try any awesome Easter crafts or recipes? We would love to see a photo of yours. Visit us on Facebook and show us your creation. Our comment section here on Blogger seems to be having issues, so please share with us on our Facebook page, so we can talk to you. :)

We hope you are taking very good care during this busy time. The end of the school term is full of activities. We're almost there everyone! Almost on break. Blessings to all of your families.
